Why Stay Up To Date With Dog Vaccines

Pets & Animals Blog

There are a lot of reasons why vaccinating your pet dog is so important. Here are some of the important reasons for making sure you have your pet vaccinated and stay on top of their vaccinations.

Your dog won't get sick with serious illnesses

The main reason that you are going to want to make sure your dog is properly vaccinated is to protect them against getting sick. There are a lot of different diseases and illnesses your dog can pick up easily. One example would be parvo. Parvo affects many more puppies than adult dogs, but any unvaccinated dog will be at risk. Parvo can remain live on surfaces for as long as a year. This means that not only would you have to worry about your dog getting seriously ill from parvo, but then you'd also have to remember you can't bring another puppy or possibly under-vaccinated dog in your home for over a year to ensure that they don't get sick also.

You can prove your dog isn't a rabies risk

While your dog may be a very loving dog, there is always the risk that they may bite someone, even if it is just from them getting overly excited and thinking they are just playing rough. If someone does get bit by your dog, they are going to want to see that your dog has had its rabies vaccination. Plus, you will be able to relax knowing that your dog won't end up with this horrible disease.

You can take your dog to the boarding facility and groomers

There are so many places that you can take your dog to these days. You can take them to a day care for dogs while you are at work, to the boarders when you go out of town, to the groomer for a nice bath and clip, to pet-friendly businesses like pet supply stores and feed stores, etc. However, none of these places are going to want your dog to come in if you can't provide proof that they have had their vaccinations. If you are the type of person who really likes to enjoy spending time with your dog and have them tag along with you, and you like to take them to places like the neighborhood dog park, then this is going to be another big reason for you to have the dog properly vaccinated.
